LOCAL EVENTS

Get ready to get the Christmas experience that every local remembers at this year’s Sights and Sounds. Use of both Plaza and City Park, Christmas lights galore, a carnival, food vendors, including the crowdpleasing wood-fired biscuits, Bethlehem and local kids’ performances will all be part of the 2025 festivities, according to board president Rick Doria.

With the event going back to its full glory this year, Doria said they are needing volunteers to help keep the Christmas spirit alive.

“Let’s band together. Let’s make this a hallmark of a six-day event,” Doria said. “We just need help.”

Sights and Sounds will occur over six days: Dec. 4-6 and 11-13. The 5K will happen the morning of Dec. 13.

Opening day will have free admission this year, which was paid for by Christus Santa Rosa San Marcos. Kids get in free on any night, but adults must pay $10 on every other night. Doria pointed out that prices are going up, so admission had to as well. But even with the price increase, Sights and Sounds would not be possible without all of the generous donations from local businesses. The Sights and Sounds board put their boots to the ground, and the community responded with an outpouring of support.

Doris said people can feel good about their food and beverage purchases at the event because over 50% of the vendors are nonprofit organizations, who will retain 90% of their profits.

“That’s one thing I want to stress to our community is that you are literally giving right back to these organizations,” he said.

In the Pauline Espinosa center, Doria said there will be one of two Santa’s Gift shops. The second will be outdoors under a large tent. The board is still accepting vendor applications, which can be found on the Sights and Sounds website.
