Early voting totals have been released and Election Day votes are starting to file in, though as of 9:30 p.m. no precincts have fully reported. One San Marcos City Council race looks to be decided while the other appears headed for a runoff.
For City Council Place 1, Matthew Mendoza leads Chase Norris with nearly 60% of the vote. Mendoza has 3,523 compared to Norris with 2,381.
For City Council Place 2, Josh Paselk is leading, but if no candidate receives a majority the top two candidates go into a runoff election.
Paselk has around 38% with 2,302 votes so far. Saul Gonzales has around 27% with 1,609 votes. Barbara Montana-Escobar has around 23% with 1,405 votes. Christopher L. Polanco has 6% with 365 votes. Brandon Oles has 4% with 252 votes.
Election totals should continue rolling in throughout the night.
