The Kyle Police Department is marking the 7th anniversary of its Narcan (naloxone) policy, which was implemented on Nov. 9, 2018. Since then, every officer has been equipped with this life-saving medication, highlighting the department’s commitment to protecting community members from opioid overdoses.
To date, Kyle Police officers have administered Narcan on 46 individuals, saving numerous lives over the past seven years, and as recent as Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025.
Narcan is a medication that can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, restoring normal breathing in someone whose life is at risk. The policy allows responding officers to provide immediate aid in critical situations, often bridging the gap until emergency medical services arrive. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address opioid misuse, demonstrating proactive law enforcement strategies that prioritize the health and safety of the community.
The Kyle Police Department encourages residents to stay informed about opioid risks and available resources. Families, friends, and community members can access information on overdose prevention, treatment options and safe practices by visiting the Texas Health and Human Services website. Residents are also encouraged to have Narcan on hand, which is available for purchase at most drugstores, to help save lives in the event of an overdose.
