SMHS GIRLS BASKETBALL
The No. 16-ranked Lady Rattlers opened the season in dominant fashion, beating the rival New Braunfels Unicorns 66-36.
San Marcos started off fast against New Braunfels in the first quarter, jumping out to a 19-9 lead and didn’t let up.
Junior Rileigh Good led the team in scoring with 18 points including making four three pointers.
Senior Azariah Fennell and freshman Kourtney Blakemore were both second in scoring with 12 points apiece. Blakemore led the team in rebounding with eight boards, including seven defensive rebounds. Senior Melayna Perkins was fourth in scoring with eight points and five steals.
The Lady Rattlers are home for the first time this season as San Marcos hosts Cedar Park Vista Ridge. The Rangers are coming off a 6552 loss to Austin Bowie last Saturday.
Tip-off for San Marcos- Vista Ridge is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Snake Pit in San Marcos.
