Players suspended following post game football brawl

A total of 13 players have been suspended, including six Texas State football players in their roles during an on the field following the conclusion of last Saturday’s game.

“There is no place for this type of behavior in college football,” Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill. “This unfortunate postgame incident overshadowed what was a competitive regional rivalry game on the field. While the spirit of competition is central to what we do in college athletics, postgame actions like these will not be tolerated in the Sun Belt Conference.”

For Texas State, senior defensive end Tymere Jackson was suspended two games while junior Khamari Terrell, sophomore Justin DeLeon, sophomore Kyran Bourda, sophomore J.P. Deeter and junior Devarrick Woods were giving one-game suspensions.

For Louisiana, senior Tyree Skipper was suspended for the entire season. Courtline Flowers, Kody Jackson, Kailep Edwards Collin Jacobs, Evan Stroman and De’Antonio Lesueur were all given one game suspensions.

“We appreciate Commissioner Keith Gill and the Sun Belt Conference for their swift review of the incidents following Saturday’s football game at Louisiana,” Texas State Director of Athletics Don Coryell said. “We also support the league’s decision to hold individuals from both teams accountable for their actions.

”Our program takes this matter seriously and understands the importance of representing our university with integrity, both on and off the field. We are committed to learning from this experience, strengthening our discipline and ensuring that our actions consistently reflect the values of our institution and our community.”

The Bobcats will go on the road to Southern Miss to battle the Golden Eagles.
