The Bobcats will take on the Baylor Bears in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in a rematch from this season.
Texas State won the Sun Belt Conference tournament for the first and last time, defeating Louisiana Monroe 1-0 in the championship game. Securing the auto-bid, the Bobcats qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 and just the sixth time in program history since their debut season in 1999.
The Bobcats finished the season with a 10-3-7 overall record, marking the first time Texas State has posted consecutive seasons of 10 or more wins since 2017-2018. The Bobcats’ seven ties is the most in program history.
Texas State played Baylor earlier this year with the Bears winning the match 4-1 to hand the Bobcats their second loss of the season. Baylor leads the overall series against Texas State 4-0-2 including their matchup in 2011 at the NCAA Tournament.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Betty Lou Mays Field in Waco.
