Habitable Spaces is proud to announce the opening of its inaugural community gallery exhibition, ‘ 30 Mile Radius’ featuring the work of artists from Kingsbury and the surrounding region. The show celebrates the creativity and diversity of local talent, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Habitable Spaces as it expands its mission to support and showcase the arts in rural Texas.

The exhibition is made possible through a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, and will open with a public reception on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 3-9 p.m. at Habitable Spaces’ new Nexus Gallery, located at 3050 FM 1104, Kingsbury, TX 78638.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and explore a range of works including painting, sculpture, art books and installation art—all reflecting the vibrant cultural life of the region.

The show will include a handful of San Marcos artists including TXST art professors Michael Villarreal, Jessamyn Plotts and Jennifer Moore as well as MotherShip Studios Co-founder Jacqueline Overby. Other artists include Jourdan Miley, Vladimir Mejia, Anabel Gomez, Amanda Risch and Will Hemmick.

“Over the years, Habitable Spaces has been a place for collaboration and experimentation,” Co-founder of Habitable Spaces Alison Heinemeier said. “With our new Nexus gallery initiative, we’re creating a space where our neighbors and artists can connect, share stories, and celebrate what makes our community unique.”

The exhibition will remain on view through February 1st. Come and enjoy a full moon dinner and casual artist talk at 6-10 p.m. on Dec. 4, Jan. 3 and Feb. 1.

Gallery hours are by appointment. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, visit habitablespaces.org or follow @habitablespaces on social media.
