Bobcat football games will all be on linear television
The Pac-12 Conference and USA Sports announced a five-year partnership running from 2026 through 2031 to broadcast Pac-12 sporting events in football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
With the announcement, the Pac-12 will see all three sports be broadcast on CBS, CBS Sports Network, The CW and USA Network.
“The new Pac-12 is where tradition meets transformation — a unique opportunity in the rapidly-evolving college sports landscape that strongly aligns with the go-forward vision of USA Sports,” Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould said. “We are thrilled to launch this partnership with the USA Sports team and leverage our shared vision to build something unique and special.” USA Network will broadcast 22 regular season football games, 50 regular season men’s basketball games and 5-10 regular season women’s basketball games.
“USA Sports is proud to partner with the new Pac-12 and showcase the league to a national audience on USA Network,” President of USA Sports Matt Hong said. “Our partnership further establishes USA Network as a destination for all sports fans, with weekends packed with Pac-12 football doubleheaders and men’s and women’s basketball double- and tri- ple-headers beginning next fall.”
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR TEXAS STATE For the first time in the history of the Texas State Athletic program, the majority of the Bobcat games featuring football and basketball will no longer be locked behind a paywall as in the case with ESPN+.
In regards to Texas State football, 100% of their games will be on linear television spread across CBS, CBS Sports Network, The CW and USA Network. With Pac-12 enterprises expected to broadcast over 100 basketball games, Bobcat basketball, both men and women, will also have more games on national television than ever before.
For a university wanting to grow beyond being a state known institution into a nationwide one, this is best you can hope for.
No longer behind the ESPN+ paywall while fighting with hundreds of universities just for the table scraps to be on one of the ESPN channels, Texas State will be on national television for the whole world to see.
More eyes will be on Texas State than ever before, which is nothing but a win for the university. The more people see Texas State, the more interested in the university people become, which then grows the brand and more opportunities arise.
For a university who’s fight song lyrics include “Until the whole world knows our name,” Texas State is moving in the right direction.
