We at KZSM 104.1/KZSM.org are very proud to have created and presented the San Marcos Music Awards, but the magic comes from the community! Keep in mind that nominees must perform and/or live in San Marcos, and the Best Live Performance must have taken place in San Marcos. Awards are given for the best: Artist, Vocalist, New Single, New Album, New Artist, Classical, Jazz, R&B, Blues, Singer/Songwriter, Country, Rock, Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk, Latin, Pop, DJ/EDM, Producer, Promoter, Radio Personality, Live Music Venue and Live Performance. This year, we’ve added a new category for Americana.
The Golden Martian Award honors the best service from a member of the San Marcos music community. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes for a San Martian who has spent many years promoting our diverse community and vibrant culture.
Nominations are open now through December 8, 11:59 p.m. SMMA members may nominate one group or individual per category. From December 12 to December 27, members will vote to determine the finalists. Members will receive a ballot listing all the nominees in each category and choose one from each. The five nominees receiving the most votes in each category will become the finalists. In the event of a tie, the performer with the most nominations will become the finalist.
The final round of voting, January 1-24, will be open to everyone to choose one from the five finalists in each category. Winners will be announced January 30 at the Awards Ceremony.
