Divided Sky to match donations to CASA

Make a difference in the life of a child in need of a family by supporting CASA of Central Texas.

CASA provides advocacy for kids in the child welfare system, according to the website. The organization trains volunteers to ensure foster children’s needs are met.

The Rotary Club of San Marcos will have CASA of Central Texas CEO Norma Blackwell as a guest speaker on Wednesday, Nov. 19, where members will be requesting donations for her cause. Visitors are always welcome to attend Rotary meetings, which are held at the VFW, located at 1701 Hunter Road.

Rotary Club Member and owner of Divided Sky Roofing and Solar, John Hardy, will be shaving his beard for the first time in 25 years at the conclusion of the event in an effort to raise funds for CASA and to honor National Adoption Month.

“My wife Allison and I were once foster parents,” Hardy said. “During that time, we had the incredible support of a CASA volunteer — someone who stood up for the child’s best interests and helped our case move forward smoothly. That experience changed us forever.”

Hardy has the goal of raising $5,000 for CASA.

“These volunteers are often the only consistent adult in a child’s life during a time of uncertainty,” he said. “If you believe every child deserves a voice, a champion and a chance — please donate. Whether it’s $5 or $500, your gift will help CASA continue their life-changing work. To make your gift go further, Divided Sky will match donations up to $2,500.”
