Shooting suspect identified, arrest in Post Road shooting

SAN MARCOS POLICE DEPARTMENT

San Marcos Police made an arrest and identified suspects for at least two of the unrelated shootings that occurred over Halloween weekend. San Marcos Police have identified Patrick Dave Anderson, 24, as the suspect in the deadly Nov. 1 shooting in Downtown near Kissing Alley. Anderson moved to San Marcos from Arizona in October.

SMPD were initially seeking two suspects, the second individual has been identified and is cooperating with the investigation.

San Marcos Police Chief Stan Standridge said in a press conferenc e on Nov. 3 that an SMPD officer was assigned to the square to assist with the crowd and was investigating a robbery on the San Antonio Street side of the courthouse grounds when he heard multiple shots fired at 10 p.m. on Nov. 1.

The officer found a male victim that had been shot outside of a bar, though Standridge did not specify which one. Within a few minutes, officers learned of another victim that had fled to the opposite side of the courthouse.

The first officer began performing CPR on one of the victims, Ronnie Hernandez Jr., who was then transported to Christus Santa Rosa - San Marcos. Hernandez, born in 2006, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting in locating Anderson. He has not been arrested and is believed to have left San Marcos.

UPDATE ON POST ROAD SHOOTINGS San Marcos Police have made one arrest and are searching for another suspect connected to the Nov. 2 shooting at the Outpost Apartments on Post Road. Investigators determined that a fight near the pool area led to gunfire.

D’antrae Houston, 17, was arrested on Nov. 6 in Lockhart for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

John Anthony “Chucky” Contreras, 17, of Kyle, is wanted for Attempted Capital Murder of Multiple Persons.

Standridge said in the Nov. 3 press conference that a phone call was received at 1:23 a.m. on Nov. 2 regarding a shooting that occurred during a large fight at the Outpost Apartments pool. One person was also “pistol whipped” by a One victim was taken to Christus Santa Rosa by friends, but blood trails at the scene suggest there may have been two victims, according to Standridge.
