Texas State University is known for creating scholars in multiple departments, but the artists blossoming out of the Art & Design school bring a creative touch to higher education. Like clockwork, these students spend their formative years learning a plethora of artistic mediums, mastering crafts while also learning how to navigate the business side of the art world. The courses are designed to culminate in a final thesis where students display their master works in a group show at the TXST Galleries. Before their final semester each student must take a Practices and Portfolio course which gives them the tools to navigate a group show, requiring groups of students to work all semester to pull off a student-led art show.
Shows are free and open to the public, offering a unique glimpse into the developing artistic styles of TXST students. This semester, one can catch the one night only exhibition, ‘Introspectacle.’ Exhibiting 12 student artists, this show focuses on showcasing the complexity of the human experience through multiple art mediums.
Guests are invited out to 814 Sagewood Trail in San Marcos on Tuesday Nov. 25 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The work can be best described with the word Introspectacle, defined as inner emotions, thoughts, and experiences resulting in an outward display.
Artists featured include, Megan Parman, Jane King, Gillian Carr, Kaylin York, Lauryn Noelle, Kai Davis, Heaven Gonzalez, Sophia Donaldson, Leighton Sorrels, Skyler Eylsse, Aaliyah Webb and Maia Meneses.
