LBJ Museum announces Christmas program on Dec. 4

LBJ MUSEUM OF SAN MARCOS

The LBJ Museum of San Marcos will host a free Christmas program on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m., including a reception with wine, hot chocolate and cookies.

This year’s Christmas program will feature San Marcos-based, A Cap- pella Unlimited along with Christmas stories and a visit by a very special holiday person. A Cappella Unlimited is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, the largest singing organization for women in the world.

At 6:30 p.m. the program will begin with A Cappella Unlimited singing old and new songs. “A cappela,” meaning “in the style of the chapel” in Italian, originally referred to church music but now includes all types of secular styles including Christmas songs.

The key aspects of a cappella singing are a strong sense of pitch and the ability to collaborate with other vocalists. The singing relies solely on the human voice with no instrumental accompaniment. Interspersed between songs will be readings from favorite Christmas stories, ending with a special story from a special guest.

The LBJ Museum is always free and open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday to Saturday.

Located on the San Marcos downtown square, the museum was established in 1997 and opened in 2006 to honor the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, a 1930 graduate of Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University). The museum offers exhibits of Johnson’s early years as a student and as a teacher in Cotulla, TX that shaped his future political career.

The LBJ Museum 20th Anniversary Benefit Gala will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 in the Grand Ballroom of the LBJ Student Center at Texas State University. For more information please visit lbjmuseum. com/events.
