There was a Federal Bureau of Investigation presence in San Marcos at the intersection of Hilliard and Alpine Trail on Nov. 18, but information as to why has not yet been made available.
Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra issued a statement on the day of the incident saying that county officials believe “some potentially dangerous materials are being investigated.”
“I can say that no Hays County personnel are involved in this operation,” Judge Becerra said.
Becerra added that his office had reached out to the FBI but had not yet received updates.
“I will update the public as I receive more information,” Becerra said. “Our priority is always public safety, accuracy and transparency. As soon as verified information is available from federal authorities, we will share it with the community.”
An FBI San Antonio spokesperson gave the following statement on Nov. 20: “I can confirm the FBI was conducting court authorized activity at a residence in the vicinity of the intersection of Hilliard Rd. and Alpine Trail in San Marcos. We have no additional information to share at this time.”
