GINGERBREAD HOUSE IN KYLE

Today is the opening night for the Gingerbread House in Kyle, a popular Christmas attraction featuring a full-size house in Plum Creek decorated like a gingerbread house.

Kristine Lilly first decorated her home at 285 McGarity in 2020. “In honor of my mother, I’ve tried to create a magical life size gingerbread house, for everyone in my community to enjoy,” she says on her website. “Although it is not really made of candy, I hope that it inspires feelings of magic and memories of simpler times for everyone who comes to visit!”

Visitors can get festive photos in front of the house, as well as hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies. “We will have Magical Elves, and all the Christmas charm you can handle,” says Lilly.

She is asking visitors for canned food donations to help combat food insecurity in the local community. Visitors can also donate money. All donations go to the Hays County Food Bank in San Marcos.
