The City of San Marcos has launched the Office of Community Support and Resource Navigation, a new initiative designed to help residents connect with critical services, strengthen community partnerships and address underlying factors that contribute to public safety challenges.
The new office fulfills a key objective of the city’s 2025 Strategic Plan, which prioritizes Public Safety, Core Services and Fiscal Excellence. The initiative reflects a proactive and holistic approach to community safety by recognizing that issues such as poverty, lack of education, and limited access to mental health services are deeply connected to long-term well-being and stability.
“Our goal is to remove barriers and ensure every resident has a clear path to the resources that support their stability, wellbeing and quality of life,” City Manager Stephanie Reyes said. “By creating this office, we can better connect the dots between community needs and the services that can make a lasting difference. This coordinated, proactive approach strengthens community safety by addressing challenges early and reinforcing the resilience of our entire city.”
The Office of Community Support and Resource Navigation will: - Connect residents with local and regional programs that provide food access, rental and utility assistance, healthcare and mental health services.
- Collaborate across departments and with community partners to align city services with resident needs.
- Empower residents through education, outreach and proactive resource navigation.
Residents seeking assistance can start by visiting the Community Resources page on the City’s website at San-MarcosTX.gov/CommunityResources, which lists local organizations, available resources and contact information for a wide range of services.
For additional support, residents can also dial 21-1, a free and confidential 24/7 service managed by Texas Health and Human Services. This line connects callers with local resources for housing, utilities, healthcare and more.
“The launch of this office marks another step forward in building a stronger, more connected San Marcos,” Community Resource and Engagement Coordinator Grisell Pérez-Carey said. “When our residents have access to the right support, our entire community benefits.”
