Shop SMAL Holiday Art Fair

The Saturday after Thanksgiving has long been designated as Small Business Saturday, to remind people that prosperity is built by supporting our neighbors. The San Marcos Art League (SMAL) will be holding a second Art Squared from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Courthouse Square on Saturday, Nov. 29.

In addition, for the first time, the San Marcos Art Center, a project of the league, will be hosting a Holiday Art Fair during their open hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and featuring seven of the showing artists from the center. Shoppers who stop by the Art Center will have the opportunity to see additional art priced for holiday shopping.

Kay Hughes will present this year’s specially designed holiday cards as well as small acrylic and watercolor paintings. Rebecca Montgomery’s beautiful metal and beaded jewelry will be supplemented by fun holiday earrings and necklaces.

Nancy Brown will have colorful handmade stained glass holiday ornaments and other stained-glass and wood pieces as well as 3D printed frog-magnets, puzzle boxes and magic rabbit toothpick holders.

Gary Springer will have a variety of items; painted eggs, handmade Christmas cards, mini paintings and Christmas- themed prints, small crocheted magnets.

Gwendolyn Hustvedt will have silk scarves and small framed batik paintings as well as calendars, prints and stickers that feature her unique take on the San Marcos River.

Lisa McPike Smith will present functional assemblage pieces such as jewelry organizers, ceramics, and unique crystal ornaments.

Sondra Kretschmar will bring art made of recovered glass from the San Marcos River, sculptures, mosaics and ornaments in addition to sparkling stained glass suncatchers.

Enjoy the small town spirit and Shop SMAL this year.
