The City of Seguin has announced the promotion of Alora Wachholz to director of economic development for the City of Seguin and executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation.
She transitions into the role following the departure of former director Josh Schneuker, who recently joined the Greater SATX Regional Economic Partnership.
Wachholz has served as the city’s deputy director of economic development and the Seguin Economic Development Corporation since April 2024, where she has played a key role in driving industrial recruitment, business retention and strategic planning efforts. Her promotion continues a strong legacy of economic development leadership in Seguin.
“Alora has been a huge part of the success we have seen in Seguin over the past two years,” said City Manager Steve Parker. “We are so excited that she will now be leading us into this very bright future. She is extremely talented and I am confident she will do great things for our community,” he said.
Wachholz brings 15 years of experience working with municipalities across Texas to help communities realize their economic potential. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas State University and a Master of Public Administration with a focus in Economics from the University of North Texas, she pursued advanced professional credentials to deepen her economic development expertise.
In 2018, Wachholz became a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council — one of the profession’s most respected designations. In 2020, she completed accreditation as a Master Economic Development Professional through the Advanced Economic Development Leadership Program.
“I am honored to step into the role of director of economic development during such an exciting time for our fastgrowing community. Seguin’s spirit of innovation is already inspiring, and I look forward to working closely with our businesses, community leaders and residents to build on that foundation, welcome new investment and support a thriving economy for years to come.”
In her new position, Wachholz will lead the City of Seguin’s economic development efforts, which are aimed at creating new investments and primary jobs that enhance Seguin’s economic vitality.
