Eye of the Dog Art Center hosts first small works show
In the hills of San Marcos lies an art haven where creativity is consistent and curiosity is king. Eye of the Dog Art Center has been a staple in the art community, hosting their annual Dirt Dauber Festival, which brings in dozens of artists and hundreds of art lovers.
Recently the team at Eye of the Dog has been experimenting with new shows in their Dogseye Gallery. New gallery director Tawni Bates wanted to go big for her first show by going small. The current show, “Smaller Than a Bread Box,” opened with a packed reception.
The gallery is open to the public seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and runs until Dec. 21, showcasing 60 artists. The show includes work from artists across America, representing more than just ceramics. Paintings, kinetic sculptures, and miniature worlds can all be found within the walls of the gallery.
“I think our oldest human in the show is 86 and our youngest one is 12,” Bates said. “We love being all-ages because that’s how you learn and diversify.”
Visit the show in person at 405 Valley View West Road or see all the pieces for sale on their website at eyeofthedogartcenter. com/dogseye-gallery.
