The community is invited to celebrate the Christmas season with “A Stroll to the Stable,” a holiday experience showcasing religious displays in historic downtown Seguin on Dec. 4-7.
“A Stroll to the Stable” is an opportunity to celebrate the many faith traditions that make Seguin special, according to a city spokesperson. The event is a collaborative effort between churches throughout Seguin and is being spearheaded by Bishop Tim Bird with the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
“This inaugural Christmas event will feature a walk-through exhibition of religious displays at the Nolte Building (formerly Wells Fargo) located at 101 E. Nolte. Over four festive evenings, the public can explore meaningful exhibits, enjoy the sounds of the season, and join together in a communitywide expression of faith and unity,” said Bird.
Admission is free and open to all.
“A Stroll to the Stable” will feature: - Displays reflecting the Christmas story and traditions - Live music by local choirs, bands and musicians - Four nights of fellowship, reflection and holiday spirit “The Stroll to the Stable” event will be held: Thursday from 12-9 p.m.
Friday from 12-9 p.m. Saturday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
Public’s Help Needed to Reach Goal of 1,000 Nativities for Display
Organizers are looking to reach their goal of “borrowing” 1,000 nativity scenes to display at the event. So far, they have collected 300 sets. To lend a nativity set, please email seguinwardbishop@ gmail.com to coordinate drop-off. Nativities will be returned to their owners on Monday, Dec. 8.
Call for Congregations to Participate
Congregations throughout Seguin and the surrounding area are invited to help make this inaugural event a shared and memorable celebration. Churches and faith groups are encouraged to contribute displays, music, volunteers or other support to help bring the exhibits to life. Churches can visit justserve. org/AStrolltotheStable to view participation opportunities.
Volunteers Needed
The event also depends on the generosity of volunteers. Community members who would like to help greet guests, guide visitors through the displays, provide support behind the scenes or assist in other ways may find more information at justserve.org/AStrolltotheStable.
