CHRISTMAS IN SAN MARCOS
The Tap Room and The Porch hosted the annual “Santa Paws” event on Sunday, providing pets and their owners the opportunity for photos with Santa Fitz to benefit the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter. Santa Fitz, aka Kenneth Fitzgerald, has been a regular subject for these annual photo sessions, and has experienced a few challenging guests.
”I used to say, wow, what’s it like to be a photographer trying to get pictures of kids?” he said. “And then I saw a whole other level when I came to see what the dogs are like. They’re they’re unpredictable, but they’re quiet.
“I had a giant dog sit on my lap, and he just kept staring at me and growling, and I felt a little uncomfortable, but everything was good in the end. And then I had a little poodle, and she relieved herself on me.” But Santa Fitz still got the poodle photo, plus an extra donation from the apologetic owner.
Photographer Jessie Jahen (Jessie Jahen@Darkknightxd) was taking digital photos as well as Polaroid candids. A recommended donation of $10 and/or shelter supplies were requested for the photos. Check the Taproom website and Facebook pages for the official portraits, which will be posted by Dec. 12.
