Bobcats fall to Stephen F. Austin

Despite a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds for Kyra Anderson, a fourth-quarter comeback by the SFA Ladyjacks gave Texas State a 74-66 loss on Saturday night.

Anderson was one of three Bobcats in double digits, alongside Jones and Parr with 11 apiece in the Bobcats loss.

Texas State started the game off with back-toback buckets from Kyra Anderson and Mia Galbraith to take a 4-0 lead. From there, Texas State extended its lead to seven with just under four minutes to go in the first quarter off a layup from freshman Angela Carroll. The Ladyjacks were able to draw within three to end the first quarter. Texas State led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter.

The Ladyjacks battled in the second quarter to keep the score close, despite Texas State leading 19-13 after an Anderson three to start the quarter. She led with nine points on 4-5 shooting in the second quarter for Texas State. The two sides matched points most the way through though, and at the half Texas State led 35-31.

The Bobcats put up another 19 in the third quarter to maintain their lead, but the Ladyjacks matched their quarter two total with another 18 as well to make it a fivepoint game after the third quarter. The Bobcats’ 19 points came from six different Bobcats, but Jones led with five. Texas State led 54-49 after the third quarter.

SFA started the fourth quarter on a 10-2 scoring run to go up 59-56. From there, the Bobcats did their best to battle back but the ‘Jacks efficient shooting helped them to an eight point lead with two minutes to go. Texas State would go on to lose 74-66 after a 25-point fourth quarter from SFA.

Texas State is now 2-6 on the season after today’s game against the Panthers.

Texas State women’s basketball will return home for its final game before conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 10 against UNT Dallas. The game will tipoff at 5 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with Texas State men’s basketball as the men take on Southern. Fans can tune in to both matches on ESPN+ or purchase tickets at txst.com/tickets. Texas State women’s basketball will then open up conference play on Dec. 17 against Louisiana at 5 p.m.
