CITY OF SAN MARCOS
The San Marcos Public Works Department’s Stormwater Management Division has selected the winners of the second annual “What Goes Here Flows Here” calendar art contest. This contest aims to raise awareness about the importance of water quality and stormwater pollution prevention.
This year, students in grades K-12 across the San Marcos area were invited to illustrate the importance of water quality, stormwater pollution prevention, the mantra “only rain down the drain,” and the protection of the San Marcos River.
After receiving 130 creative submissions, sixteen pieces of artwork were selected to be featured in the official 2026 Stormwater Calendar. Each winning artwork highlights the importance of native species conservation, pollution prevention, and the shared responsibility in protecting our local waterways.
“We’re so proud of our young artists this year and excited to showcase their art on our 2026 Stormwater Calendar,” said Stormwater Coordinator Alexandra O’Connor. “Each submission beautifully captured the student’s creativity and unique perspectives on conservation.”
