Man arrested for attempted kidnapping while impersonating a police officer

HAYS COUNTY JAIL

A man was arrested for attempting to kidnap two adult women while pretending to be a police officer on Dec. 12.

Kevin Andrew Frimpong, 38, was charged with Kidnapping (Attempted) and two counts of Impersonating a Public Servant, according to Hays County Jail records. Bail is set at $100,000.

The San Marcos Police Department said the first kidnapping attempt occurred at the San Marcos City Cemetery. The victim reported that after she had a brief conversation with a man who had identified himself as law enforcement, he displayed handcuffs and attempted to restrain her. The victim was able to break free and contact police immediately.

SMPD received a separate call earlier regarding Frimpong acting suspiciously at a nearby residence.

Police are asking that anyone who has encountered a person claiming to be law enforcement under suspicious circumstances or that has information related to this incident, contact them immediately.
