It’s the weekend after Christmas, and you might be looking to get out of the house, or, even out of the town. I have just the thing. The Joel Hoffman band will be playing at 9 p.m. at O’Donnells’ Cafe and Pub, 119 East San Antonio St., Lockhart. If you haven’t seen this band, I highly recommend it. They put on a lively show. The Facebook post and the restaurant website do not say anything about the price of admission. I called the restaurant, and the person on the phone told me they hadn’t posted the show on their own site yet but be prepared with $5-10 bucks, just in case. If it’s free, then you’ll have the money for two extra beers. Congratulations!
Also, if you’re taking the trip there anyway, there are a lot of fun things to do in Lockhart. You could stop by Old Pal Texas Tavern on the town square, at 100 East Market Street, for a drink and the best fried chicken ever. They have fried chicken salad, which means there is crispy chicken skin mixed in with the chicken salad. How has no one else ever done this!? It’s so right, it almost feels wrong. Enjoy your food, and get an Uber if you enjoy your drinks too much.
