As January approaches, so does new opportunities. For artists in San Marcos one of the best opportunities to show art is at the Price Center. Each year a dedicated art committee organizes and executes multiple public open calls for art, allowing all ages and mediums to be showcased on the gallery walls. Since the Price Center doubles as a community center the artwork becomes the backdrop for events, classes and meetings, bringing a vibrant interaction and allowing the work to be viewed by a wide population.
The newest call for art centers around the theme, Creative Journeys: Beyond Imagination. This open-ended theme lets artists explore multiple mediums and expressions, resulting in a mix of unique and engaging work. Submissions are open Tuesday, Jan. 6 from noon to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artwork must come ready to hang and forms and fees can be filled out and paid during drop off. Artists have the opportunity to sell their work during the duration of the show with a percentage of the sale going back to the gallery.
The exhibit will be from Jan. 10 to Feb. 21. Guidelines can be found at price-center.org/artists. For questions contact the Price Center at 512-3922900 or email them at info@price-center. org
