February Book Club Sign Ups now open at Green Heron Bookshop

If diving into new books is a part of your New Year’s resolutions, look no further than local indie book store Green Heron Bookshop. Located right down the road from downtown, this charming twostory house is home to your next favorite read. Make friends and dive deeper this year with the February book club lineup. Fiction lovers can explore Jacqueline Harpman’s novel “I Who Have Never Known Men” for the Sun., Feb. 1 book club meeting at 1 p.m. hosted upstairs. Tickets with the book included are $26 or if you have the novel you can sign up for $15. The novel follows forty women deep underground imprisoned in a cage. Watched over by guards they have no memory of how they got there and no notion of time, only vague recollections of their lives before. The fortieth prisoner, a young girl, sits alone as an outcast but soon shows herself to be the key to the others’ escape and survival into the strange world that waits for them above.

Those who prefer the classics can check out the Sun., Feb. 15 book club featuring ‘Wuthering Heights’ by Emily Bronte at 2 p.m. Tickets are $29 with the book included or just a ticket is $15. The book is about two landowning families living on the West Yorkshire moors, the Earnshaws and the Lintons. The novel is driven by themes of love, possession and revenge. It’s considered a classic of English literature.
