With the extreme flooding that cost countless lives last year in the Hill Country, learning how to prepare may be top of mind. The San Marcos Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1523 Old Ranch Rd 12, will be holding an Emergency Preparedness event at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free. According to the Facebook post, the event will help one “learn how to prepare for flooding, tornadoes, extreme weather, and community disasters.” Reese Martin, with the city of San Marcos Emergency Preparedness Department, and Camille Phillips will be speaking.
Saturday at 10 a.m., it’s time for wreath removal from the annual Wreaths Across America event that recently occurred and honors fallen Veterans at the San Marcos City Cemetery, 1001 Old Ranch Road 12. The post advised to wear appropriate clothes for outdoor labor and to bring gloves, pliers and a broomstick (to collect wreaths). The wreaths will be dismantled and composted.
