Five years ago, if you would have told anybody that Texas State would be joining the Pac-12 Conference, they would have thought you were crazy. But in this era of college realignment, anything is possible. The bombshell that broke over the summer was Texas State announcing that it would be leaving the Sun Belt Conference, which had been home since 2013, for the newly configured Pac-12 Conference made up of Boise State, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Fresno State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah State and Washington State. It signals a new era for Texas State Athletics, which not only wants to compete at the highest level but to elevate what people think of the university as a whole..
