The Hays County Film Advisory Board is hosting “Lights! Camera! Community!” on Thursday, Jan. 29, at noon to show property owners how to list their locations for media productions. The half-day workshop will be held at the Hays County Elections Building, 120 Stagecoach Trail.
The Texas Film Commission’s most requested properties include restaurants, performance venues, industrial spaces, medical facilities, homes, shops, salons, abandoned buildings, funeral homes and a variety of unique spaces, such as farms, ranches, hotels and others not listed here.
The workshop will also be advantageous to independent filmmakers because regardless of scale, every production depends on a clear understanding of location logistics. This is an opportunity to ask questions of film commissioners, film-friendly liaisons and location managers who will be in attendance.
Three panels will share information for property owners and filmmakers: The first includes film-friendly liaisons from San Marcos, Buda, Kyle, Wimberley and Dripping Springs, who will discuss their support for media productions and access to locations.
The second panel features professional location scouts and managers explaining what they looking for and how locations are secured. The third includes Texas and Austin Film Commission representatives, who will describe how to list your property in their databases.
