The Lady Rattlers remained undefeated in district play as San Marcos defeated the East Central Hornets 76-38.
San Marcos improves to 16-7 overall and 4-0 in district play while East Central falls to 16-11 and 1-3 in district play.
The first quarter was competitive as San Marcos led 20-15 over East Central before the Lady Rattler defense came out in lock down mode.
San Marcos held East Central to just one field goal in the second quarter as the Hornets scored just five points. The Lady Rattler offense continued to roll, scoring another 20 points to lead 40-20 at halftime.
East Central failed to score over 10 points in both the third and fourth quarters as the Lady Rattlers rolled to the win.
Senior Melayna Perkins scored a career high 27 points for the Lady Rattlers along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior Rileigh Good was second in scoring with 15 points followed by senior Azariah Fennell with 10 points.
San Marcos returns home Tuesday for a massive district showdown against the No. 21ranked Converse Judson Rockets. The Rockets enter the game with a 21-5 overall record and a 3-1 district record with their lone loss coming against Cibolo Steele last Friday.
Both the Lady Rattlers and the Rockets come into their showdown boasting the two best defenses in the district. Judson leads the district with the fewest points allowed at 145, holding district opponents to just 36.2 points per game. The Lady Rattlers come in allowing the second-fewest points at 151, holding district opponents to just 37.7 points per game.
The last meeting between the Lady Rattlers and the Rockets ended in controversy when an oncourt fight between players broke out in the final minutes of the game with the Judson winning 5146.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Snake Pit in San Marcos.
