Bobcats sweep series against rival Cajuns

Texas State bounced back from a tough loss to Troy to beat the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 55-43 to sweep the season series between the two teams.

The Bobcats improve to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in conference play while the Cajuns fall to 1-15 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

Texas State trailed 1312 going into the second quarter before the Bobcats outscored the Cajuns 13-6 in the period to take a 25-19 lead going into the third quarter.

The Cajuns cut their deficit down to four points at 33-29 but a 103 run by the Bobcats gave Texas State at 43-32 heading into the fourth.

The Bobcats failed to relinquish the lead as Texas State rolled to a 5543 win.

Sophomore Kyra Anderson completed the double-double, scoring both a game high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Saniya Burks and freshman Angela Carroll were second in scoring with six points.

Texas State returns home to Strahan Wednesday against Southern Miss for the Bobcats annual kids game. The Kids Game is a staple for Bobcats, with thousands of local elementary school children attending the game in support of Texas State.

Southern Miss enters the game with a 10-6 overall record and a 3-2 conference record, coming off a 82-59 loss to App State last Saturday.

Tip-off for Texas State-Southern Miss is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Strahan Arena.
