Despite second half comeback, Bobcats fall to Arkansas State

The Bobcats dropped their second consecutive conference game, falling to the Arkansas State Red Wolves Texas State falls to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play while Arkansas State improves to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

”I thought we were a resilient group today. I’m proud of our guys’ effort, fight and their connectivity,” Head Coach Terrence Johnson said. “There are no moral victories in this, but I thought we took a step toward bringing culture to the floor. Hopefully, we can heal up and get ourselves back for these next two home games.”

Trailing by as many as 10 points in the first half, the Bobcats made their comeback in the second before tying the game five times in the period.

Though Texas State outscored Arkansas State 45-40 in the second half, the Red Wolves fended off the Bobcats comeback attempts to seal a thrilling 83-82 win.

Freshman D.J. Hall continued his dominance in his first year with the Bobcats, leading the team in scoring with 16 points along with 12 rebounds to complete the doubledouble.

Senior Jalen Bolden and sophomore Franck Emmou both had 12 points each while seniors Kyndall Davis and Makai Willis both contributed 10 points each.

Texas State will look to be back in the win column as the Bobcats host the rival Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.

The Cajuns enter the showdown with a 4-14 overall record and a 2-4 conference record, coming off a loss to Troy 9070.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Strahan Arena.
