HAYS COUNTY

Campaign posters are lining the streets of San Marcos, with candidates gearing up for the March 3 Primary Election.

CANDIDATES

Democratic candidates running for Hays County Judge are incumbent Ruben Becerra, Michelle Cohen, current Hays County commissioner, and Joel Martin. The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Judge is Geoffrey Tahuahua.

The sole Democratic candidate running for Hays County Court at Law No. 1 is incumbent Jimmy Alan Hall. There is no Republican candidate running for that position.

Democratic candidates running for Hays County Court at Law No. 2 are incumbent Chris Johnson, David Friesenhahn and Thomas Just. The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Court at Law No. 2 is Charmaine Wilde.

The sole Democratic candidate running for Hays County District Clerk is incumbent Amanda Calvert. There is no Republican candidate running for that position.

Democratic candidates running for Hays County Clerk are Cynthia Millonzi, Deedee Rodgers and Nicholas Costilla. There is no Republican candidate running for that position.

The sole Democratic candidate running for Hays County Treasurer is incumbent Daphne Tenorio. There is no Republican candidate running for that position.

The sole Democratic candidate running for Hays County Chair is Willie Tenorio. The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Chair is Michael Salvo.

Democratic candidates running for Hays County Commissioner Pct. 2 are Bryan Escobar and Johnny Flores. The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Commissioner Pct. 2 is Abby Gibson.

Democratic candidates running for Hays County Commissioner Pct. 4 are Angie Unger and Laurie Brown. The Republican candidates running for Hays County Commissioner Pct. 4 are WM. Travis Crow and Rob McClelland.

Democratic candidates running for Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Place 2 are incumbent Maggie Moreno and Elizabeth Amaya. There is no Republican candidate running for this position.

The sole Democratic candidate running for Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 2, Place 1 is incumbent Beth Smith. The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 2, Place 1 is Janie Flores.

The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 is Joseph Jamieson. There is no Democratic candidate running for this position.

The sole Republican candidate running for Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 is John Burns. There is no Democratic candidate running for this position.

The sole Democratic candidate running for Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 5 is incumbent Sandra Bryant. There is no Republican candidate running for this position.

DATES TO REMEMBER

According to the Hays County Elections website, the last day to register to vote for the Primary Election is Feb. 2.

Early voting begins Feb. 17 and ends Feb. 27. One can vote from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Feb. 17-20, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Feb. 23-27.

Election Day is March 3, and canvassing and release of official results is on March 9.

VOTING LOCATIONS

In San Marcos, early voting locations are at the Broadway Polling Location, 401 Broadway Street #A, the Hays County Elections Office, 120 Stagecoach Trail, and the LBJ Student Center at Texas State University, 301 Student Center Drive. These locations will also be available on Election Day.
