Together let’s make 2026 greater than any other year; but the key word here is Together!
Chamber Staff hopes that your 2026 is off to a great start! At the Chamber – jump into the new year has meant that we did just that - we hit the ground running in 2026! Staff has welcomed several new members since the beginning of the year and if the start of 2026 is any indicator of the balance of the year – hold on tight because it is going to be a great year. We truly hope that your 2026 is just as exciting and wish you all success!
BUSINESS EXPO SHOWCASE
We are about a month away – Feb. 26 to be exact – from the 2026 Business Expo where the theme this year is “Hustle to Success,” with a disco twist for the event. This year will be the first year with a new expo layout of the booths that we think will make the expo experience much more enjoyable from the experience in the past!! There are still a few booths available for the event but they too – like the start of 2026 – are going quick; so give us a call as soon as possible if you would like to participate.
Chamber Members can register using their Chamber portal access or by calling the office at 830-379-6382. Again this year, admission is free if you register by Feb. 21 ( it is open to all who wish to attend). Registration after the Feb. 21 deadline will be $5, so register soon at seguincham-ber. com/events/eventcalendar to avoid the $5 entry
registration fee.
TXDOT IH-10 PROJECT
As you may have heard, there has been an increase of traffic accidents in the IH-10 construction zone inside of Seguin. This increase is being tracked by Seguin Police Department, who have been in contact with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the IH-10 Contractor, and other city officials for any possible solution. The advice of many is to slow down through the construction zone since traffic patterns do change frequently. Some of those that frequently travel the route also say that reducing your speed through the zone is also advised. I traveled through a construction zone between Dallas and Ft. Worth last month and a sign stated that if you don’t have time to slow down through the construction zone, then you certainly don’t have time for a crash in the construction zone.
At the end of the day, does the excessive speed really get you there any quicker? If not, slow down and stay safe in the construction zone!! Construction will be completed soon enough, and we can enjoy the additional lanes of travel.
SH 46 TASK FORCE
Last year we mentioned that the Chamber has been advocating to have the SH-46 corridor between Seguin and New Braunfels explored for any sort of future expansion of the road to accommodate the traffic needs. We are still working to keep this in the forefront for any sort of future expansion of travel lanes from Seguin to New Braunfels.
We also have a SH 46 Task Force working group between Seguin and New Braunfels that is diligently working to make certain that this roadway stays in the forefront of many of our conversations with TxDOT. It is my opinion that TxDOT does understand the challenges that exist on the stretch of the roadway but, like anything else, expanding the roadway to meet the future travel needs take funding. And with the growth across the state of Texas, we are all competing for the same bucket of funding to do our projects. Again, be patient and exercise caution when traveling the corridor.
GUADALUPE COUNTY YOUTH LIVESTOCK SHOW
This week in Guadalupe County has been Guadalupe County Youth Show week! The youth livestock show allows youth around the county to show off their 4H and FFA projects that they have been working on. I had the honor of getting to spend a day at the show working with our youth in the goat show ring. I have said this before, but our Guadalupe County kids in that show ring are some of the best around! Respectful, thankful, and well-behaved (even if they called me Sir! Which I think means you are old!) describes each and every one of those youth that I had the opportunity to have a conversation with!
This, like many years in the past, was an awesome year and it is always enjoyable working with those youth who participate. Congratulations to all of the 4H’ers and FFA’ers that exhibited at the Guadalupe County Youth Show!
