Southside Community Center will have a Warming Center to be open during winter emergencies.
Warming Centers are opened when the temperature reaches 35°F or lower for three hours.
Southside Community Center in San Marcos will be open 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 until 9 a.m. on Jan. 26 and will be providing breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Located at 518 S. Guadalupe St., the Southside Community Center activates its Winter Emergency Shelter when temperatures drop below 35°F for more than three consecutive hours. They allow leashed, non-aggressive pets to stay with their owners.
The County does not provide transportation to warming centers. Residents should make personal arrangements when possible.

Residents may also call (512) 938-1600, which will provide updates, or visit haysinformed.com for updates to the opening of warming centers and road closures.
For extended periods additional agencies, such as American Red Cross, Merci Chefs, Salvation Army, Food bank, may be brought in to assist residents.
Hays County Transportation Department will sand major intersections, bridges and ESD ramps to the stations.
County ISD's are on standby to assist with deploying buses to assisted living centers for warming in the event of loss of power.
