New exhibition opening at The San Marcos Art Center: American Patchwork

The San Marcos Art League is pleased to announce American Patchwork, a new art exhibition celebrating the multifaceted cultural tapestry of the nation. Opening Feb. 4 at the San Marcos Art Center, 117 N. Guadalupe, #101, the exhibition brings together a diverse array of artists whose work reflects the richness of American identity through their unique histories and backgrounds.

Inspired by the concept of a patchwork quilt—where distinct pieces come together to create a unified and beautiful whole— American Patchwork showcases a variety of mediums, including oils and acrylics, photography, fiber arts, assemblages, ceramics, watercolor and pencil sketches. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the stories woven into American life, highlighting both our individual narratives and the collective experience that binds us.

“The idea of a patchwork is the perfect metaphor for our country,” Director of Exhibitions Ginger Salone, said. “This exhibition is a celebration of the myriad cultures, traditions, and personal histories that make up the American story. It’s an opportunity to see how different threads can form a stunning and cohesive work of art”.

The exhibition will be on view until Feb. 27. A special opening reception will be held on Feb. 6 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Art Center.
