Bobcats fall to Coastal in controversial fashion

Texas State fell in controversial fashion, dropping their road conference game to Coastal Carolina last Thursday.

The Bobcats fall to 1110 overall and 4-5 in conference play while Coastal improves to 129 and 5-4 in conference play.

Texas State trailed by 13 points at 48-35 with less than 14 minutes remaining in the game before the Bobcats made their comeback attempt.

The Bobcats cut the lead down 65-61 with less than four minutes remaining before Texas State went on a 9-0 run to take their first lead since the first half up 7065 with less than two minutes in the game.

Coastal Carolina trimmed the Bobcats lead down to 70-69 as the Chanticliers held possession in the final seconds of the game.

The Chanticleers attempted a three-point shot with one second remaining which missed the rim of the basketball but a late foul call allowed Coastal Carolina to shoot three free throw attempts. Coastal Carolina made all three of the free throws, allowing the Chanticleers to escape with the win.

Senior Mark Drone led the team in scoring with 24 points followed by freshman D.J. Hall with 23 points. Hall led the team in rebounds with seven.

Texas State returns home Wednesday night against Marshall for the annual blackout game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
