TXST WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday morning that Texas State forward Kyra Anderson was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for week 12.

Texas State couldn’t have asked for more from the sophomore this week as she led the team to two wins with backto- back double-double games. Anderson had 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Bobcats’ win versus App State, then another 18 points and 11 rebounds in the Bobcats’ come-from-behind win against Old Dominion. The Bobcats were perfect on the week largely because of Anderson’s 15-32 shooting for a 46.9% average.

Anderson was one of the best shooting forwards in the league this week as her double-digit efforts carried the Bobcats to two home wins. In addition to her 23 rebounds, she earned the Bobcats extra possessions with six steals and a block as well this week. Anderson is ranked 6th in rebounding, 8th in FG Percentage and Blocked Shots. As just a sophomore, Anderson is contributing on all sides of the ball week in and week out for the Bobcats, consistently meeting the double-double mark.

This is Anderson’s first Sun Belt Player of the Week Award of her career. The Bobcats will head on the road this week for a trip to the East Coast with games at Coastal Carolina on Jan. 28 at 5 pm (CT) and at Georgia State on Jan. 31 at 1 pm (CT). Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
