Bobcats unable to overcome slow start vs. Coastal

TXST WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Texas State fell on the road last Wednesday, losing to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 85-53. The Bobcats drop to 911 overall and 5-5 in conference play while the Chanticleers improve to 11-11 and 4-6 in conference play.

The Bobcats fell in a hole early at 21-6 at the end of the first period and were unable to make a dent in the deficit en route to the loss.

Sophomore Kyra Anderson continued her dominance in the paint, scoring a team high 16 points. Sophomore Saniya Burks was second in scoring with 11 points. Freshman Kaliyah Murphy led the team in rebounds with nine.

The Bobcats return to play Saturday as Texas State faces the Georgia State Panthers. The Panthers are coming off a 69-61 loss to Arkansas State last Thursday.

Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Georgia State.
