FIRST TUESDAY FILM SERIES

Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted

The First Tuesday Film Series is kicking off February with a screening of the award winning film Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted. The screening will be held at the Price Center on Tuesday Feb. 3 with doors at 6:15 p.m., food and drink at 6:30 p.m. and showtime at 7 p.m. Tickets are only 9 dollars and sell out fast, they can be found at firsttuesdaysmtx.com The story is a wildly entertaining and fittingly unconventional music doc about convention-defying singer, songwriter & record producer Jerry Williams, aka Swamp Dogg, one of the great cult figures of 20th-century American music whose singular voice and ideas have shaped the history not merely of soul music, but of country, hip-hop & other genres.

The screening is followed by a Q&A with editor Paul Lovelace and producer Ben Wu accompanied by TXST Center for African American Studies Allex Austin, Ph.D. Complimentary refreshments are provided by Pie Society and Middleton Brewing.
