Join Purgatory Creek Chorale’s Early Music Ensemble for an afternoon of music by a young J.S. Bach. This is the third installment of Purgatory Creek Chorale’s Early Music Concert Series. Concerts in this series include an interactive pre-concert lecture in which PCC’s director, Andrew McNair, gives historical and musical context to the pieces that will be performed. It is a great way for audiences to connect with what can be seen as dense and sometimes intimidating music on a deeper level. The concert will feature a Bach Cantata (BWV 71) performed by the choir, along with other solo works by Bach from his early years. The concert will conclude with a piece by Bach’s Mexico City contemporary, Manuel De Zumaya.
The event starts at 4 p.m. on Sat, Feb 7 at the United Campus Ministry located at 510 N. Guadalupe Street. Tickets are available at purgatorycreekchorale. org/tickets.
