San Marcos native running for U.S. Congress

ELECTION

A man born and raised in San Marcos will now be running for U.S. Congress District 21. After previously announcing that he would be running for U.S. Congress District 23, Zeke Enriquez has decided to switch his ticket to District 21, which represents a large portion of Hays County, including part of San Marcos. Current District 21 representative Chip Roy (R-Dripping Springs) is running for Texas Attorney General.

ZEKE ENRIQUEZ

In the March Primary Election, Enriquez will be squaring off against Weston Martinez, Mike Wheeler, James “Trey” Trainor, Jason Cahill, Paul Rojas, Mark Teixeira, Jacques DuBose, Kyle Sinclair, Peggy McCormick Wardlaw, Daniel W. Betts and Heather Tessmer.

Enriquez is running on a platform, which he said involves advocating for secure borders with physical walls and mass deportations, protecting the Second Amendment, abolishing abortion nationally and cutting government spending.

While growing up in San Marcos, he discovered he wanted to “serve,” and that desire was instilled in him by his High School JROTC Instructor Colonel Frank Dworaczyk. A need to serve was also the reason Enriquez joined the U.S. Marine Corps.

Early voting starts Feb. 16.
