Eight Rattler wrestlers qualified for the regional meet while three more will advance as regional alternates after last weekend’s district meet.
The highlight of the meet was junior Mila Juarez, who took first place in 120-lb weight class to capture the district championship.
En route to capturing the district championship, Juarez reached 100 career wins and was named the Most Outstanding Female Wrestler of the district meet.
Juarez advanced to the UIL State Wrestling Tournament last year where the junior took second place.
Joining Juarez at regionals is Mya Guerrero, Brandi Tobias and Nicolette Onate. Guerrero took second place in the 105-lb weight class, Tobias took fourth place in the 125-lb weight class and Onate took 3rd place in the 190-lb weight class.
Going to regionals as an alternate is Aubrey Prado who placed in 5th in the 170-lb weight class.
On the boys side, Anthony Pina was the highest- placing Rattler, taking second place in the 113--lb weight class and qualifying for regionals.
William Wray, Ivan Garcia and Otis Borremans also qualified for regionals for the Rattlers. Wray took third place in the 120-lb weight class, Garcia took third place in the 157-lb weight class and Borremans took fifth place in the 106-lb weight class.
Aldo Huebner and Dante Perez will also go to regionals as alternates with Huebner placing fifth in the 165-lb weight class and Perez placed fourth in the 190-lb weight class.
The Rattlers will compete at the UIL Region IV Wrestling Tournament this weekend Friday and Saturday at the Delco Activity Center in Austin.
