TXST MEN’S BASKETBALL
Texas State came away with a critical conference road win, defeating the Georgia Southern Eagles 77-71.
The Bobcats improve their overall record to 1411 and their conference record to 7-6. Georgia Southern falls to 14-11 overall and 6-6 in conference play. “I thought we came out a little bit sluggish to start but I’m glad that we picked it up,” Head Coach Terrence Johnson said. “Watching them on film, we felt like it was going to be a nip and tuck game early on, but in the third quarter part of the game is where we could pull away if we stayed focused, locked in and what we came to do.”
Freshman forward D.J. Hall led the team in scoring with 16 points along with 10 rebounds to complete the doubledouble. Senior Makai Willis was second in scoring with 15 points followed by junior point guard Kaden Gumbs with 13 points. Senior Kyndall Davis was the fourth Bobcat who scored in double figures with 11 points.
