LLANO COUNTY DISTRICT COURT
The trial of one of two men charged with capital murder charges in a Tow double homicide is expected to start the week of Feb. 9, according to court records.
Authorities charge 19year-old Kyler Nathaniel Allen and 19-year-old Jordan Eric Ostrander in the deaths of a Tow father and son shot outside their home in January 2023. Ostrander, a San Marcos resident who reportedly turned down a plea deal, is scheduled for trial on Feb. 9 in the 424th Judicial District Court in Llano.
The homicide investigation unfolded on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 in the 100 block of Airport in the Llano County rural community. Tow is located about 35 miles northwest of Marble Falls.
Llano County Sheriff ’s Department responded to a call at 4:49 a.m. that morning “in reference to multiple gun shot victims.” “Upon arrival, responding deputies found two males in the driveway of the residence, both with gun shot wounds,” according to the sheriff ’s office statement.
Preston Wessling, 38, and Evan Wessling, 14, a father and son discovered outside their home, were pronounced dead at the scene by Llano County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Lisa Simpson.
During the onset of the investigation, authorities asked for the public’s help in tracking down the suspects.
Two days later, in the early morning hours, local law enforcement with the assistance of DPS troopers and Texas Rangers announced the arrest of two suspects in Guadalupe County. The area is nearly two hours away, northeast of San Antonio.
The Guadalupe County Sheriff ’s Office coordinated the arrest of Allen and Ostrander after the suspects were located at a residence on Arrow Hill Road in Northern Guadalupe County.
Members of the Guadalupe County SWAT team, with standby agencies including the Seguin and San Marcos police departments, executed the warrants and took Allen and Ostrander into custody without incident.
