The Rattler soccer team fell in their home district game to Cibolo Steele, losing to the Knights 3-1.
San Marcos drops their overall record to 5-3-2 and their district record to 2-2-1. Cibolo Steele improves to 2-1-1 in district play and 8-5-2 overall.
The Rattlers and the Knights are tied for first place in the district standing along with Buda Johnson, with all three teams having earned seven points each.
San Marcos returns to play Friday on the road against New Braunfels Canyon.
Lady Rattlers shut out by Steele
The Lady Rattlers fell in their district road game to Cibolo Steele, losing to the Knights 40.
San Marcos falls to 410 overall and 2-3 in district play while Steele improves to 3-1 in district play and 12-3 overall.
The loss drops the Lady Rattlers to fifth place behind Canyon with the Cougars earning seven points to San Marcos’ six.
The Lady Rattlers and the Cougars will face off Friday in a crucial district showdown, with the winner gaining an advantage in the playoff race.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Toyota Rattler Stadium.
