Junior Mila Juarez captured the regional title in the 120-lb weight class and was later named the Most Outstanding Female Wrestler of the regional tournament.
Juarez advances to the state tournament for the second consecutive season; she placed second overall in the 120-lb weight class last year.
Juarez opened up the regional tournament with a 13-2 win before advancing to the quarterfinals, where she won 19-4, scoring nine points in the third period.
In the semifinals, Juarez won 17-2, after scoring nine points in the first round with three takedowns, where she advanced to the regional finals.
In the championship final, Juarez scored 19 points in period one with five takedowns and one near-fall to clinch the title.
Brandi Tobias, Mya Guerrero and Nicolette Onate all competed at regionals on the girls side for San Marcos while Dante Perez, Ivan Garcia and William Wray represented the boys side, with all wrapping up their individual seasons.
Juarez will compete at the UIL State Wrestling Championships this Friday through Saturday at the Barry Center at Cy-Fair ISD in Houston.
