Mardi Gras was on Tuesday and Sunday is National Margarita Day, so there is no shortage of reasons to find your favorite locally-made libation this week. The Rock Bottom String Band is playing at Tantra on Friday night. I have always loved their twist on bluegrass music. They are a fun one to watch. On Saturday, the Texas Caldo Cook Off will be taking over downtown San Marcos. For those uninitiated, Caldo is a traditional Mexican soup so expect the Square to be full of flavor. Cooks can compete in Caldo De Res (beef soup) or Caldo De Pollo (chicken soup), and the public is invited to taste test starting at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
