Texas State got off to a slow start in the first quarter which doomed the Bobcats in their 7561 loss to the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
The Bobcats fall to 1115 overall and 7-8 in conference play while Arkansas State improves to 21-7 and 12-3 in conference play. Texas State was plagued by turnovers as the Bobcats turned the ball over a record 37 times while Arkansas State scored 25 points off of them.
Arkansas State jumped out to the lead before going up 13-8 over the Bobcats. The Red Wolves went on a 13-5 run over the Bobcats to end the first period as Texas State trailed 2613.
The Red Wolves offense continued to dominate the Bobcat defense as Arkansas State dropped 28 points in the second period.
The scoring outburst allowed Arkansas State to take their largest lead of the first half at 54-33 going into halftime.
Though Texas State outscored Arkansas State 28-21 in the second half, the first half deficit was too much to overcome as the Bobcats fell.
Sophomore Kyra Anderson completed her eighth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Saniya Burks led the team in scoring with 17 points.
The Bobcats return to play Sunday as Texas State hosts South Alabama in the final regular season home game.
South Alabama enters the game with a 9-17 overall record and a 2-13 conference record coming off a 84-73 loss to Troy last Wednesday.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Strahan Arena.
